About Us

Every moment, a thousand voices call out:
This is the path to those who seek union.
O heart, plant the seeds of love,
And from that soil, a thousand gardens will bloom.
— Hafez

Salamati means health, well-being, and wholeness in the Persian language—physical, spiritual, communal, and environmental. Rooted in the Arabic salaam (سلام), meaning peace, it carries a history of cultural exchange and care. In Persian, Salamati is a toast 🥂 —an offering of connection and collective well-being. This spirit is at the heart of the Salamati Centre.

We cultivate spaces where healing, storytelling, and resilience are shared across cultures. At our core is the belief that all culture arises from care exchange—how we tend to the land, each other, and our traditions. By bridging Persian and Southern cultures, we foster holistic healing through environmental stewardship, spiritual renewal, and social justice.

We honor the wisdom of Southern healers, Indigenous and Black traditions, and the Persian heritage of gardens, poetry, and spiritual practices. From Appalachian herbalism, Cherokee plant knowledge, and Black ancestral rituals to Persian medicine and Sufi philosophies, we uplift traditions that mend the body and soul.

Through educational programs, cultural events, and community initiatives, we seek to restore connections, heal past wounds, and cultivate a future of shared care and understanding. The Salamati Centre is a place where cultural exchange is an act of healing—rooted in reciprocity, respect, and the hope for collective well-being.
